After the excitement of the legendary crest stream, I decided to dive deep into the new Tempest class. I’d been putting it off, but it was worth the effort. After thoroughly reviewing the skills and essences, I’ve crafted a powerful PvP build that should make Tempest a formidable opponent. This class has a unique skill set reminiscent of a Rogue from other games, but it might be a bit squishy. So, our build focuses on maximizing i-frames, control immunity, and high burst damage. Let’s get into the details.
Essential Skills for Tempest

Now, let’s break down the skills you’ll be using in this Tempest PvP build:
- Blade Dance:
- Essences: Blade Dance provides a dash, stun, and primary attack speed buff, giving that classic Rogue feel. We’ll discuss the specific essences in the legendary items section.
- Flowing Strike:
- This movement skill is crucial as it grants immunity to total loss of control and knockback effects thanks to our essence choices. You can even use it while under total loss of control, plus it boosts our damage.
- Squall:
- Another dash skill, similar to the Monk’s Mystic Strike. The chosen essence makes you untargetable, which is vital for survival.
- Zephyr Surge:
- This is our main damage-dealing skill. It’s reminiscent of Seven-Sided Strike and, with the right essence, makes you untargetable while dashing at the enemy and unleashing a flurry of strikes.
- Wind Edge (Primary Attack):
- This works like Fists of Thunder, allowing you to dash towards enemies with a five-second cooldown.
Legendary Affixes and Essences
Now, let’s talk about the legendary essences for each slot to maximize the potential of our skills.
Helmet: Unmoored Eyes
- Effect: Blade Dance now throws your edges, impaling them into the first enemy they strike, damaging and stunning them. Your edges remain embedded in the target for a short while, allowing you to activate the skill again to dash behind the target, damaging all enemies along your path.
- Reason: This essence is the core of the build, adding utility and fun to the gameplay.
Chest: Flitter Away
- Effect: Blade Dance also increases your Primary Attack Speed.
- Reason: Essential for dealing more damage after using Blade Dance to dash behind enemies.
Shoulders: Safe Borders
- Effect: Flowing Strike can now be used while suffering from total loss of control and knockback effects, making you immune to their effects briefly.
- Reason: Helps in surviving and escaping tricky situations.
Pants: Seafarer’s Trows
- Effect: Flowing Strike also grants you increased damage for a short time.
- Reason: More damage is always beneficial.
Main Hand 1: Harmonious Castill
- Effect: Squall now makes you untargetable and causes you and your Zephyrs to dash forward, damaging enemies in your paths.
- Reason: Staying untargetable is key to maintaining your presence in the fight.
Main Hand 2: Fiendfell
- Effect: Wind Edge becomes empowered periodically, causing your next attack to unleash a piercing wind that slices through enemies, dealing damage and shattering their armor, causing them to take increased damage.
- Reason: Increases damage output and weakens enemies for follow-up attacks.
Off-Hand 1: Mistwhisper
- Effect: Zephyr Surge now causes you to become untargetable and dash at an enemy, unleashing a series of rapid strikes against them, with each Zephyr consumed granting additional strikes.
- Reason: Adds significant damage while keeping you safe.
Off-Hand 2: Samilian Windbrush
- Effect: Blade Dance maximum charges increased by 1.
- Reason: More charges mean more opportunities to control the battlefield.
Set Items
For set items, you have a couple of options:
- Gloomsguide’s Prize and Vithu’s Urge (4 pieces each): Ideal for maximizing damage and mobility.
- If you find yourself too squishy, consider Mountebank’s instead of Vithu’s for better survivability.
