How to play this Prowling Staff build?
is one of the strongest options for solo PvP if you enjoy a playstyle based on crowd control, preparing your damage, and choosing exactly when to engage.
However, it's also one of the more complicated weapons to learn.
Unlike a regular weapon, has two different forms with completely different abilities.
In human form, we're focusing on building Shift Charges, controlling our opponent, and surviving their damage.
Once we have enough charges and a good opportunity to attack, we transform into a Shadow Panther and deal our main burst damage.
We're also using for additional crowd control and to survive while preparing our next combination.
However, there's something important you need to understand.
Panther form deals much more damage, but it's also considerably less durable than human form.
That's why you shouldn't stay transformed and trade damage against every opponent.
The biggest part of learning is understanding when you should transform, how to manage Shift Charges, and when you should return to human form.
1. Main Abilities
Since has two forms, let's separate the abilities to make everything easier to understand.
Human Form Abilities
| Slot | Ability | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Q | Damage, shielding, and Shift Charges | |
| W | Crowd control, damage, and Shift Charges | |
| E | Transform into Panther form | |
| Passive | Additional Shift Charge generation |
Adapting Matter (Q)
is our main human form ability.
It allows us to deal magical damage at a targeted location while providing a shield to ourselves and nearby allies.
However, the most important part is that also helps us build Shift Charges.
These charges are necessary for our strongest abilities in Panther form.
You can generate a charge by hitting enemies or shielding an ally, including yourself.
This makes the ability extremely useful because we can prepare Shift Charges before fully committing to a fight.
For example, if you're expecting to fight someone, you can start building charges with while staying in human form.
And since the ability also provides a shield, you're not completely defenseless while preparing.
Don't Waste the Shield
provides a shield that protects against magical damage.
However, the shield only lasts for a short period.
That means you don't want to cast it simply because it's available if you're expecting a dangerous magical attack a moment later.
Against certain opponents, the defensive value might be more important than generating another Shift Charge immediately.
For example, if you're fighting a magical damage weapon and you know they're about to use their main damage ability, you can try to time to absorb part of it.
The important thing is getting value from both the shield and the Shift Charge generation whenever possible.
Preparing Charges Before Fighting
One of the best things about is that you can build charges without having to transform immediately.
However, there are two things to remember.
First, Shift Charges don't last forever.
Second, mounting up removes your charges.
So don't spend too much time preparing five charges and then expect them to remain available indefinitely.
You want to prepare your charges shortly before an engagement.
Habo Tip: Learning to prepare Shift Charges safely in human form is one of the easiest ways to improve with . A well-prepared transformation is much stronger than randomly transforming with no charges available.
Polymorph (W)
is probably the most important crowd control ability in this setup.
It fires an energy orb in a targeted direction.
If it hits an eligible enemy player, they're temporarily transformed into a harmless animal.
While affected, they cannot use their normal abilities.
This gives us a powerful opportunity to interrupt their combination, create distance, or prepare our Panther transformation.
And if you hit an enemy, also generates a Shift Charge.
However, there's something important to understand.
is a skill shot.
You need to aim it properly.
If you miss, you're losing one of your strongest crowd control abilities and an opportunity to generate another charge.
That's why is such an important part of this build.
Royal Helmet and Polymorph Combination
allows us to stun an opponent with .
Once we land that stun, it becomes much easier to hit .
For example:
| Step | Ability | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stun your opponent | |
| 2 | Extend your control and generate a charge | |
| 3 | Build or maintain charges | |
| 4 | Prepare your main burst | |
| 5 | Pounce and Sinister Swipes | Deal damage while the opportunity is available |
This is one of the strongest combinations available to the build.
However, has a short delay before its stun lands.
Against mobile opponents, you'll need to predict where they're moving.
You can also use first and save for a follow-up stun.
The best order depends on what your opponent is doing.
Polymorph Against Transformed Players
There's another important interaction worth knowing.
doesn't work the same way against players who are already transformed.
Instead of turning them into an animal, it can reduce their maximum and current Health temporarily.
This means the ability still has value, but you won't get the same crowd control effect.
For example, against another Shapeshifter Staff player who's already transformed, don't expect to completely disable them.
You need to recognize their current form and adjust your expectations.
Don't Waste Polymorph
Against certain opponents, can completely interrupt their most important offensive window.
For example, if a melee brawler activates several damage bonuses and starts attacking, you can use to stop them temporarily.
However, if you use it immediately at the beginning of every fight, they might simply wait until it expires before activating their main abilities.
Sometimes holding is much more valuable than using it for a little additional damage.
Also remember that enemy players receive temporary protection against repeated control effects afterward.
You cannot permanently keep someone transformed into an animal.
Shadow Panther Transformation (E)
is what makes different from the other Shapeshifter weapons.
When activated, you transform into a Shadow Panther for a limited duration.
Your Q and W abilities change completely, and your character becomes much more offensive.
However, you also lose a significant amount of durability compared to human form.
This makes timing extremely important.
You want to transform when you have enough Shift Charges and a good opportunity to deal damage.
For example, if your opponent is already affected by or has used their important defensive abilities, transforming can create a very strong damage opportunity.
But if you transform while they're still holding all their damage abilities, you might be forced to return to human form almost immediately.
Panther Invisibility
Panther form also has a unique invisibility mechanic.
If there are no nearby enemies for a short period, the Panther becomes invisible to enemy players.
However, your movement speed is reduced while invisible, and nearby enemies receive an indication that a Panther is close.
That's why I wouldn't recommend treating Panther invisibility like a regular .
It's useful for positioning, but experienced opponents can recognize that you're nearby.
For this particular build, I would focus more on using human form crowd control to prepare your engagements.
Innate Power (Passive)
For our passive, we're using .
After dealing damage in human form, it periodically generates an additional Shift Charge.
This makes building charges considerably easier.
And since we want to enter Panther form with enough charges for our main combination, it's an excellent passive for this setup.
However, there's one important thing to remember.
generates charges through damage dealt in human form.
It's not something that constantly gives you charges regardless of what you're doing.
Try to maintain pressure with and when appropriate.
Over time, helps you reach the charges you need for your transformation.
Alternative Passives
| Passive | Best Use |
|---|---|
| Default choice for consistent Shift Charge generation | |
| Additional temporary Health when transforming | |
| Reducing enemy damage with human form Q attacks | |
| Additional attack speed and casting speed after using W |
can be useful if you want more protection when entering Panther form.
can help against aggressive opponents.
However, for this particular setup, I recommend keeping .
The additional charge generation makes the weapon much easier to play consistently.
2. Panther Form Abilities
Once you transform, your abilities change.
| Slot | Ability | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Q | Sinister Swipes | Main damage and missing Health finisher |
| W | Pounce | Mobility and area damage |
| E | End Transformation | Return to human form |
| Panther effect | Infected Scrapes | Bleeding damage and healing reduction from normal attacks |
Pounce (W)
Pounce is our main mobility ability while transformed.
It allows you to leap toward a targeted location, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies when you land.
However, there's something important you need to know.
Pounce consumes one Shift Charge.
That means using it without thinking can leave you with fewer charges for Sinister Swipes.
For example, if you enter Panther form with only two charges and immediately use Pounce, you might not have enough charges left for your full damage combination.
That's why preparing your charges in human form is so important.
Pounce Cooldown Reduction
Pounce also has another useful mechanic.
If you successfully hit an enemy player, its cooldown is reduced.
This makes it easier to follow mobile opponents or reposition during longer fights.
However, I wouldn't recommend using Pounce simply because it's available.
You need to pay attention to your remaining Shift Charges and whether you're about to use Sinister Swipes.
Pounce Crowd Control Immunity
Pounce also provides crowd control immunity during the dash.
This can help you move through certain enemy crowd control abilities without being stopped.
However, Pounce does not provide damage immunity.
You can still take damage while using it.
This is particularly important because Panther form is relatively vulnerable.
Don't assume you can avoid every dangerous ability by jumping through it.
Sinister Swipes (Q)
Sinister Swipes is our main damage ability in Panther form.
It allows us to attack an enemy several times, with the final attack dealing additional damage based on their missing Health.
This means that Sinister Swipes becomes particularly dangerous when your opponent is already low.
However, the ability has an important interaction with Shift Charges.
Completing the empowered combination requires four Shift Charges.
And since Pounce uses another charge, you want five Shift Charges available for the complete Pounce and Sinister Swipes combination.
| Ability | Shift Charges Needed |
|---|---|
| Pounce | 1 |
| Full Sinister Swipes combination | 4 |
| Complete Panther combination | 5 |
You don't always need to use the complete combination.
Sometimes using Pounce and only part of Sinister Swipes is enough to pressure an opponent.
Other times, you might want to enter Panther form for a quick attack and then return to human form.
The Final Sinister Swipe
The final attack is particularly important because it deals additional damage based on the target's missing Health.
This means it becomes stronger as your opponent loses Health.
For example, using the full combination against someone at full Health won't get the same finishing value as using it against someone who's already taken significant damage.
That's why I recommend trying to deal some damage in human form before transforming.
You can also use your crowd control to create a safer opportunity to land the entire combination.
Don't automatically commit all your Panther abilities against someone who's still at full Health with every defensive available.
Important: Sinister Swipes Cooldown Nerf
Sinister Swipes was changed with the Dragonfire update.
The delay between empowered attacks increased from 0.8 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
This is particularly important because you can no longer complete your main damage combination as quickly as before.
You now spend more time in Panther form.
That gives your opponent additional opportunities to respond.
However, this doesn't mean the weapon is suddenly weak.
It just means you need to be more careful about your timing.
Try to use your normal attacks between Sinister Swipes when it's safe.
This also allows you to get additional value from Infected Scrapes.
Infected Scrapes
While transformed, your normal attacks apply Infected Scrapes.
This creates bleeding damage over time and reduces the healing your opponent receives.
The healing reduction can stack, making it particularly useful against opponents who rely on sustain.
And since Dragonfire increased the damage of Infected Scrapes, normal attacks are more important than before.
Don't ignore your normal attacks while waiting for the next Sinister Swipes cast.
Against opponents who are already low, the additional bleed damage and healing reduction can help you finish the fight.
However, don't force yourself to stand still and attack if your opponent is preparing a dangerous ability.
Remember that Panther form is still relatively vulnerable.
3. How to Fight With Prowling Staff
The main goal is to control the fight in human form before committing to Panther form.
You don't want to randomly transform and hope your opponent dies.
Instead, prepare your Shift Charges, force important cooldowns, and then take advantage of the opportunity.
Basic PvP Rotation
Here's a simple example of how I would approach a favorable fight.
| Step | Ability | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Build Shift Charges and gain shielding | |
| 2 | Generate additional charges through human form damage | |
| 3 | Stun your opponent | |
| 4 | Extend crowd control and generate another charge | |
| 5 | Transform with enough charges | |
| 6 | Pounce | Close distance and deal damage |
| 7 | Sinister Swipes | Continue your main damage combination |
| 8 | Normal Attacks | Apply Infected Scrapes between abilities |
| 9 | End Transformation | Return to human form when necessary |
| 10 | Survive while preparing another engagement |
This isn't a fixed combination that works against every opponent.
For example, sometimes you'll want to use before .
And against opponents with dangerous burst damage, you might want to save until they commit.
The important thing is understanding why you're using each ability.
Preparing Five Shift Charges
Shift Charge management is one of the biggest skills you need to learn with .
Ideally, you want five charges before committing to your complete Panther combination.
However, that doesn't mean you should always wait for five charges.
Sometimes you'll have a good opportunity to attack earlier.
For example, if your opponent is already low Health and has used their defensive abilities, you might be able to finish them with a shorter combination.
But against a healthy opponent, entering Panther form with too few charges can leave you without enough damage to win the fight.
That's why I recommend practicing your charge management before taking expensive sets into lethal PvP.
The Quick Panther Trade
One of the things I really like about is that you don't always need to complete your entire combination.
You can enter Panther form, deal some damage, and then immediately return to human form.
This is particularly useful against opponents who are difficult to kill in one engagement.
For example:
- Prepare a few Shift Charges.
- Use to create an opportunity.
- Transform into Panther form.
- Use Pounce and a short damage combination.
- Return to human form before your opponent can fully retaliate.
- Use and to prepare for the next trade.
This allows you to take advantage of your offensive abilities without staying in the less durable Panther form for too long.
However, remember that transformation and ability cooldowns still matter.
And completing the full Sinister Swipes finisher can place your transformation on a longer cooldown.
You need to decide whether you're going for a quick trade or fully committing to finish the opponent.
Don't Stay in Panther Form Too Long
One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is staying transformed even after they've used their important damage abilities.
If you don't have enough Shift Charges for another meaningful combination, you're losing a lot of your offensive potential.
And since Panther form is less durable, staying transformed can become dangerous.
Sometimes it's better to return to human form and use your defensive equipment while rebuilding charges.
You have , , and to help survive during that period.
Don't Waste Your Crowd Control
We have two excellent crowd control abilities.
provides a stun, while can completely disable eligible enemy players.
That's an extremely strong combination.
However, using both immediately against someone who isn't dangerous can leave you vulnerable afterward.
For example, if your opponent has a strong burst combination available, you might want to save until they start attacking.
Or if someone is trying to escape, you can use to stop them before transforming.
Try to make your opponent commit to something before using your strongest crowd control abilities.
That way, you're getting more value than simply delaying the fight for a couple of seconds.
4. Equipment and Defensive Abilities
The rest of our equipment focuses on keeping us alive in human form while providing additional control and sustain.
| Equipment | Ability | Main Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Stun and setup for | ||
| Damage resistance and silence | ||
| Mobility and cooldown recovery | ||
| Shorter potion cooldown | ||
| Plate Armor | Defensive stats | Additional durability between engagements |
Royal Helmet
For our helmet, we're using .
It allows us to call down a projectile at a targeted location, dealing damage and stunning enemies caught in the area.
This works extremely well with .
Since is a skill shot, stunning someone first makes it much easier to land.
However, there's a short delay before hits the ground.
Against mobile opponents, you need to predict their movement.
Using Royal Helmet Defensively
isn't only useful for preparing your Panther combination.
You can also use it to create distance when someone gets too close.
For example, if your opponent activates a powerful offensive ability and starts attacking, a well-placed stun can interrupt their pressure.
This gives you time to reposition, build another charge, or recover with a .
However, don't expect to land every stun against experienced opponents.
Sometimes they'll recognize the animation and move away before the projectile lands.
Habo Tip: Try not to use and without a reason. They are two of your strongest tools for controlling a fight, and wasting both can make your next Panther engagement much riskier.
Armor of Valor
is one of the biggest reasons why this build can survive difficult fights.
We're using , which gives us increased damage resistance while channeling.
When an enemy damages you during the channel, can respond by firing a magical orb at them.
That orb deals damage and silences the attacker briefly.
This is an excellent defensive ability, especially against opponents who want to deal constant damage.
However, there's one important thing to understand.
is a channeling ability.
You're protecting yourself while channeling, not freely attacking with Panther abilities at the same time.
That's why I recommend using it when you're in human form and need to survive an opponent's damage.
Using Requite Properly
For example, if someone activates their main offensive abilities and starts attacking, you can activate .
The additional damage resistance helps you survive.
And if they continue damaging you, the silence can disrupt their combination.
This gives you an opportunity to recover and prepare your next attack.
However, don't activate when your opponent isn't attacking.
They might simply wait for it to end.
The best time to use is when your opponent has already committed to dealing damage.
Requite Damage Nerf
received a nerf in Dragonfire Patch 3.
The damage from was reduced from 27 to 21.
However, its defensive effects and silence remain unchanged.
This means is still an excellent option for this build.
We're mainly using it to survive and disrupt our opponent, not as a major damage source.
Shoes of Tenacity
For our boots, we're using .
It increases our movement speed and cooldown recovery.
This is useful because we rely on several important abilities, including , , and our defensive equipment.
also gives us a reliable way to escape when necessary.
However, there's something important to remember.
We're not using for their unique ability.
is available on Leather Shoes in general.
That means you can choose a cheaper pair of Leather Shoes if you want to reduce the cost of the build.
Just make sure you're using the correct ability and passive.
Swift Cut (Alternative)
If you prefer more aggressive chasing, you can consider with .
allows you to dash behind an enemy target.
This can be useful when you're trying to catch someone after your Panther combination.
However, requires an enemy target.
You can't use it as freely as .
For general Mists roaming, I recommend keeping .
Smuggler Cape
For our cape, we're using .
Its passive activates when we use a potion.
When available, it reduces our potion cooldown by 80 seconds.
This is particularly useful because we're using Healing Potions as our main source of sustain.
We can potentially use another considerably sooner during longer fights.
However, there's one important thing to remember.
doesn't instantly give you another potion.
It reduces your cooldown, and the cape itself also has a long cooldown.
You still need to pay attention to when you activate your first potion.
Martlock Cape (Alternative)
is another reasonable option if you prefer a simpler defensive setup.
It automatically increases your defenses when your Health gets low enough.
However, you're giving up the additional opportunity from .
For this particular setup, I prefer because fights can involve several human and Panther form rotations.
Having another available sooner can make a big difference.
5. Food and Potions
We're using and Major Healing Potions.
Both work extremely well with the general playstyle of .
| Consumable | Main Purpose |
|---|---|
| Faster casting, shorter cooldowns, and additional defense | |
| Health recovery during combat | |
| Additional maximum Health and healing based on damage | |
| (Alternative) | Protection against dangerous burst |
Avalonian Pork Omelette
is an excellent food option for this build.
It increases our casting speed and cooldown recovery while also providing additional defense.
All three bonuses are useful.
The cooldown reduction helps us get , , and our defensive abilities back sooner.
The casting speed makes preparing and using our human form abilities smoother.
And the additional defense makes it easier to survive while waiting for another opportunity to transform.
For this particular setup, I recommend keeping as the default.
Roasted Puremist Snapper (Alternative)
If you want more sustain, is another excellent option.
It increases your maximum Health while also allowing you to recover Health based on the damage you deal.
This can be particularly useful in Panther form because you're dealing repeated damage through Sinister Swipes and normal attacks.
However, the healing has a limit over short periods.
You can't simply recover your entire Health bar by landing one large attack.
| Food | Main Benefit | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Cooldowns, casting speed, and defense | Default setup and frequent ability rotations | |
| Maximum Health and healing from damage | More sustain in extended fights |
Personally, I prefer for the main setup because cooldown management is so important.
But is a strong alternative if you want additional healing.
Major Healing Potion
Healing Potions are our main source of direct sustain.
Since doesn't have much built-in healing, I recommend being careful about when you use your potion.
Don't wait until you're almost dead.
You want to recover enough Health to survive your opponent's next damage window.
And because we're using , you can potentially get another sooner.
However, that doesn't mean you should waste the first one.
Try to use it when you're actually missing enough Health to benefit from the recovery.
6. Matchup Tips
is versatile, but different opponents require different approaches.
You need to pay attention to their defensive abilities, mobility, and whether you can safely complete your Panther combination.
| Opponent | What I Recommend |
|---|---|
| Melee Brawlers | Save and for their main offensive abilities |
| Ranged Kiters | Prepare charges before engaging and save Pounce for chasing |
| Burst Builds | Use to survive and to disrupt their combo |
| Reflect Builds | Avoid committing your Panther damage into active reflection |
| Healing Builds | Use Infected Scrapes to apply healing reduction |
| Highly Mobile Builds | Save and to set up damage |
| Shapeshifter Builds | Remember behaves differently against transformed players |
| Higher IP Opponents | Take short trades and avoid unfavorable extended fights |
Against Melee Brawlers
Against melee opponents, we have several ways to control the fight.
is particularly useful because it can completely disable an opponent during an important damage window.
You also have for another stun.
And if they manage to get close and start dealing damage, provides strong protection.
For example, if someone activates a powerful offensive ability, you can use to interrupt their pressure.
Or if they've already committed to attacking, can help you survive while punishing them with silence.
However, don't automatically transform into Panther form just because they're standing close.
Some melee builds are extremely strong at direct brawling.
You want to control them first and transform when you have a meaningful damage opportunity.
Against Ranged Kiters
Against ranged opponents, the biggest challenge is staying close enough to deal your Panther damage.
Pounce provides mobility, but it costs a Shift Charge.
And if you miss, you won't receive its cooldown reduction from hitting an enemy player.
That's why I recommend preparing your charges before engaging.
You can also use and to control their movement.
Once they've used their important escape abilities, transform and commit your Panther combination.
However, don't waste all your movement immediately.
Sometimes it's better to remain in human form and continue pressuring them until you have a better opportunity.
Against Burst Builds
Against opponents who rely on one big damage combination, is extremely useful.
It provides additional damage resistance while channeling.
If they continue attacking you, the silence can disrupt their offensive abilities.
You also have for another way to interrupt their combination.
However, remember that Panther form is less durable.
Don't transform into Panther form just before your opponent uses their strongest damage ability.
If possible, force them to use that ability first.
Then take advantage of the opportunity to transform and deal damage while it's on cooldown.
Against Reflect Builds
These are some of the matchups where you need to be particularly careful.
If your opponent activates damage reflection, you don't want to blindly use Sinister Swipes and continue attacking.
Since Panther form is relatively vulnerable, taking significant reflected damage can be dangerous.
For example, against with , try to wait until the reflection expires before committing your main burst.
You can also use or to create a safer opportunity.
But don't automatically assume your crowd control will prevent every defensive response.
Some opponents can activate their protection before your combination lands.
Against Healing Builds
Against healing builds, Infected Scrapes becomes particularly valuable.
Your Panther form normal attacks apply bleeding damage and healing reduction.
This makes it harder for opponents to recover during your damage combination.
However, you still need to be careful.
If your opponent has strong sustain and manages to survive your first Panther combination, they might recover a large amount of Health afterward.
Try to maintain pressure when it's safe.
And don't waste your final Sinister Swipe against someone who's already protected by a major defensive ability.
Against Highly Mobile Builds
Highly mobile opponents can be difficult because they might escape before you finish your Panther combination.
That's why charge management and crowd control are so important.
Try to make them use their movement abilities first.
Then respond with , , or Pounce.
However, remember that Pounce consumes a Shift Charge.
If you use it repeatedly to chase, you might not have enough charges for the full Sinister Swipes combination.
Sometimes it's better to let someone escape rather than use every ability trying to catch them.
7. PvE and Mists Roaming Tips
is capable of clearing solo PvE, but this particular setup is mainly designed around PvP.
We're using Plate Armor and several defensive abilities, so our regular PvE clear won't necessarily be as fast as a dedicated farming build.
However, you can still clear camps and mobs while looking for fights.
Clearing Groups of Mobs
Here's a simple way to approach regular PvE enemies.
| Step | Ability | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Deal damage and generate charges | |
| 2 | Damage or weaken an important enemy | |
| 3 | Help build additional charges | |
| 4 | Prepare your damage combination | |
| 5 | Pounce | Deal area damage |
| 6 | Sinister Swipes | Finish stronger enemies |
| 7 | Normal Attacks | Apply additional bleeding damage |
You don't necessarily need to use the entire Panther combination against every weak mob.
Sometimes and a short Panther rotation are enough.
Try to save your important defensive abilities when other players are nearby.
Stronger PvE Enemies
Against stronger enemies, you can use to apply a temporary Health reduction instead of the usual player transformation effect.
This can be useful against enemies with a large Health pool.
You can also use to survive dangerous attacks.
However, remember that you can't freely attack while channeling .
Sometimes avoiding the attack entirely is better than simply absorbing it.
And since Panther form is less durable, you need to be careful about standing inside dangerous mob abilities while dealing damage.
Don't Waste All Your Cooldowns
Since we're playing in the Mists, we always need to consider other players.
For example, if you use , , , and your against regular mobs, you might have very few defensive options if someone attacks.
Try to keep at least one important ability available.
You don't need to clear every mob pack as quickly as possible if doing so leaves you vulnerable.
Preparing for PvP
Before fighting another player, I recommend checking a few things.
| Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Shift Charges | You need enough charges for a meaningful Panther combination |
| Important for setting up crowd control | |
| One of your strongest ways to control opponents | |
| Main defensive ability during dangerous trades | |
| Your main source of direct healing | |
| Determines whether another potion can become available sooner | |
| Enemy equipment | Helps identify their main defensive and escape abilities |
If several of these abilities are unavailable, think carefully before committing.
And if you have valuable loot in your inventory, sometimes returning to safety is better than risking everything for another fight.
8. Common Beginner Mistakes
| Mistake | What You Should Do Instead |
|---|---|
| Transforming with no Shift Charges | Prepare charges in human form before engaging |
| Forgetting that Pounce costs one charge | Plan your Panther combination before using W |
| Using Sinister Swipes too early | Try to get more value from the missing Health damage |
| Ignoring Panther normal attacks | Use them to apply bleeding and healing reduction |
| Staying transformed after running out of damage | Return to human form when necessary |
| Missing repeatedly | Use to help set it up |
| Using randomly | Save the stun for an important opportunity |
| Activating before the opponent attacks | Wait until they're committed to dealing damage |
| Treating Panther invisibility like a normal potion | Remember that nearby enemies receive an alert |
| Expecting Pounce to provide damage immunity | It protects against crowd control during the dash, not damage |
| Forgetting | Take advantage of the shorter cooldown |
| Thinking shields provide Sustain | Count shielding as Defense, not healing |
| Using every defensive ability against mobs | Keep important cooldowns available for PvP |
| Staying in Panther form against dangerous burst | Return to human form and use your defenses |
| Taking every fight | Inspect equipment and choose your engagements |
9. Final Tips
Prepare your Shift Charges. A complete Panther combination requires five charges when you include Pounce, so don't transform without thinking about your remaining resources.
Use properly. It's not just another damage ability. It helps generate Shift Charges while providing a useful shield.
Don't waste . It's one of the strongest crowd control abilities in the setup, especially when you use it to interrupt an opponent's important damage window.
Combine with . Landing the stun makes it much easier to connect your W and prepare a Panther combination.
Don't stay transformed unnecessarily. Panther form deals much more damage but is also significantly less durable than human form.
Weave normal attacks between Sinister Swipes. The increased cooldown between empowered attacks makes normal attacks and Infected Scrapes more valuable.
Save your strongest damage for the right moment. The final Sinister Swipe deals additional damage based on missing Health, so you'll get more value when your opponent is already injured.
Use defensively. provides excellent damage resistance and can silence opponents who continue attacking during the channel.
Pay attention to the cooldown. Getting another sooner can make a huge difference in longer fights.
Choose your food based on what you need. gives cooldowns and defense, while provides additional maximum Health and healing.
Don't underestimate your opponent's damage. Even though you're wearing Plate Armor, Panther form is much more vulnerable than human form.
Learn when to disengage. You don't have to finish every Panther combination. Sometimes taking a short trade, returning to human form, and preparing another opportunity is much safer.
Overall, is an excellent weapon for experienced solo players who enjoy controlling fights and choosing when to deal damage.
It has strong burst damage, useful crowd control, and excellent defensive equipment.
However, the weapon requires more practice than most regular weapons because you need to manage two forms, Shift Charges, and several important cooldowns.
The biggest thing you need to learn is when to stay in human form, when to transform, and when to return before your opponent can punish you.
Once you get comfortable with those decisions, becomes an extremely dangerous option for solo Mists PvP.
