ALBION ONLINE GATHERING GUIDE 2026

Albion Online Gathering Guide

Gathering is easy to start, but good gathering is about much more than clicking every node you see. Your biome, specialization, gathering gear, enchantment rates, carry weight and whether you actually make it home all change your silver per hour.

QUICK ANSWER

What should a new gatherer do first?

Pick one main resource, gather it in its main biome, unlock T4 gathering gear, and keep building specialization. You can also gather the secondary and tertiary resources you find in the same biome, especially if you already have the tools unlocked. Just do not spread your early progression across all five professions equally.

THE FIVE RESOURCES

Pick the Right Biome

Every biome has three normal gathering resources, but one is much more common than the others. If you want volume, spend most of your time where your resource is the primary one.

TOOLS

Your Tool Does Not Need to Be Equipped

Keep the correct gathering tool in your inventory and Albion will use it automatically when you gather. Equipping it is optional.

RESOURCE NODES

High Tier Gathering Is a Search

Nodes have limited charges and refill over time. At higher tiers, good gathering becomes less about farming a tiny circle and more about covering ground, checking hotspots and taking what is actually available.

REGULAR T7 NODEUp to 9 charges

Regular high tier nodes can respawn with a random number of charges, so finding one does not mean it will be full.

REGULAR T8 NODEUp to 11 charges

T8 nodes are valuable, but the important part is still covering ground and finding what is actually available.

PLENTIFUL NODE30 charges

Plentiful Resource Nodes replaced the old T7 and T8 large nodes. They spawn fully charged and are marked on the local map while available.

GATHERING GEAR

The Biggest Easy Upgrade for a Gatherer

From T4 onward, each gathering profession gets its own Cap, Garb, Workboots and Backpack. The three armor pieces increase yield for the matching resource.

DESTINY BOARD

Specialization Is What Makes Gathering Feel Good

Gathering can feel slow at low spec. The longer you stay on one resource and tier, the more yield and speed you build permanently.

+0.5%Yield per level

More resources from the same tier nodes.

+0.5%Gathering speed per level

Less time standing still and more nodes per hour.

+1.5 IPSame-tier gathering gear

Each level gives extra Item Power to gathering gear of that resource and tier.

+0.2 IPShared gathering gear IP

Each level also gives a smaller IP bonus across that gathering profession's gear.

ENCHANTED RESOURCES

More Silver and Much More Gathering Fame

Enchanted resources are one of the biggest reasons a gathering session suddenly becomes much more valuable. They are also much better for leveling your gathering specialization.

CHECK BEFORE EVERY SESSION

Open the zone map with N.

Each zone has an Enchantment Rate Modifier for normal enchanted resources. Hover the value on the map to see the current breakdown instead of blindly returning to the same favorite zone every day.

RESOURCE HOTSPOTS

Use the Map, Not an Old Gathering Route

Albion has both static Resource Outcrops and newer dynamic hotspots. If you ignore them, you can easily spend a session gathering in a worse part of the map.

Static Outcrops

Continental Outcrops always contain the biome's primary resource: Tree Groves, Hide Dens, Ore Veins, Stone Outcrops and Fiber Meadows.

Dynamic Hotspots

These can shift after maintenance and create temporary concentrations of resources. Medium hotspots in higher tier red and black zones can also support Resource Guardians.

Mists & Roads

These areas are not tied to normal continental biomes, so their Resource Outcrops can be different resource types.

RISK VS REWARD

Safe Gathering vs Lethal Gathering

You can make silver in safe zones, but higher tier gathering eventually pushes you toward places where surviving the trip home matters as much as finding the node.

BLUE & YELLOW

Learn and Build Spec

Good for early progression, learning routes and building your first bankroll without risking the whole set.

RED & BLACK

Gathering Becomes Extraction

The resource is not profit until it reaches your bank. Better resources mean nothing if you regularly lose an entire session on the way home.

Gather → Decide the load is worth banking → Extract → Repeat

If losing your current inventory would ruin the session, you are probably already carrying too much.

CARRY WEIGHT

Your Run Usually Ends Because of Weight

Gathering is one of the activities where carry capacity directly changes how long you can stay out. But in lethal zones, maximum weight is not the only stat that matters.

Backpack

Reduces matching resource weight, letting you stay out longer.

Mount

Carry capacity matters, but so do speed, health and how dependent you are on the mount's load bonus.

Escape Value

A giant transport mount is not automatically the best gathering mount if it makes you an easy target.

WHAT TO DO WITH THE RESOURCES

Sell Raw or Refine First?

Selling raw is simple and completely valid. Refining can add another layer of profit, but only if the current market spread, city bonus, fees and return rate make sense.

STARTING FROM ZERO

A Simple Gathering Progression

If I wanted to level gathering from scratch, I would keep the plan simple and make one line good before spreading out.

1

Pick one resource

Do not try to become T8 in everything immediately.

2

Unlock T4 gathering gear

This is where the proper gathering setup starts.

3

Use the matching biome

Spend most of your time where your resource is actually common.

4

Use gathering gear in safe zones

Take the free yield while you build specialization.

5

Prioritize enchanted resources

They are better for both silver and gathering fame.

6

Keep building specialization

Yield and speed become much more noticeable later.

7

Check enchantment rates and hotspots

Do not blindly run the exact same route every day.

8

Build a replacement bankroll

Before lethal gathering, be able to replace your setup multiple times.

9

Bank regularly

Especially when the inventory becomes worth more than the set.

10

Add another profession later

Expand once your first gathering line is actually strong.

COMMON MISTAKES

What Usually Makes Gathering Worse

Gathering everything you see

You end up leveling five professions slowly instead of making one line strong.

Using the wrong biome

If you want Ore, spend your time where Ore is actually common.

Ignoring gathering gear

Once unlocked, the matching set leaves too much yield on the table to ignore.

Carrying too much in lethal zones

One greedy trip can erase several successful gathering runs.

Waiting beside one high tier node

Keep moving. High tier gathering is a search.

Looking only at price per resource

Availability, speed, specialization and survival decide your real silver per hour.

FAQ

Albion Online Gathering FAQ

What is the best resource to gather in Albion Online?

There is no permanent best resource. The best choice depends on live market prices, your specialization, zone enchantment rates, competition and how safely you can bank the resources. Silver per hour matters more than silver per resource.

Do I need gathering gear in Albion Online?

You do not need gathering gear to start, but once you unlock it the matching Cap, Garb and Workboots give a large gathering yield bonus. The full set scales from 10 percent at T4 to 70 percent at T8.

What does a gathering backpack do?

The matching gathering backpack reduces the weight of that resource at the backpack's tier and below by 30 percent. It helps you stay out longer, but in lethal zones you may prefer a combat cape if it improves your escape chances.

How much does gathering specialization help?

From Tier 4 onward, each level in the matching resource specialization gives 0.5 percent gathering yield and 0.5 percent gathering speed for that tier. It also adds Item Power to gathering gear.

Can I gather a resource above my tool tier?

Yes. You can gather flat resources one tier above your tool if you have the Destiny Board unlock, but it is slower. Enchanted resources require a tool of the same tier or higher.

How do enchanted resources work?

Each zone has an Enchantment Rate Modifier that affects the chance for normal resource nodes to appear as .1, .2 or .3. You can see the current rate on the zone map with N by default. Pristine .4 resources are rarer contested objectives rather than normal enchanted nodes.

Should I sell raw resources or refine them first?

Check the numbers. Refining in the correct bonus city can add value through Resource Return Rate, especially with Focus, but sometimes selling raw is still better. Gathered resources should still be valued at their market price when you calculate profit.

Is Black Zone gathering worth it?

It can be, but the real profit is what reaches your bank after deaths. Use a set you can replace multiple times, learn escape routes and bank regularly instead of carrying an entire session in one inventory.
