The Habonis Refining Calculator helps you check whether refining resources is actually profitable before you buy the materials.
It calculates material costs, Resource Return Rate, Focus, city bonuses, station fees, marketplace fees and expected profit.
You can also compare refining opportunities across different tiers and enchantments, refine previous tiers yourself and plan the transport for the entire run.
Quick Start: Check Refining Profit in Less Than a Minute
You do not need to use every feature for a basic refining calculation.
Start with:
- Select your server.
- Choose the resource you want to refine.
- Select the tier and enchantment.
- Enter the number of runs.
- Choose where you will refine.
- Choose where you will buy the materials.
- Choose where you will sell the refined resource.
- Enter the station Usage Fee.
- Check the calculated Profit and ROI.
That is enough for a basic calculation.
You can worry about Focus, stacked refining and transport later.
Choose Your Resource
Start by selecting the type of resource you want to refine.
The calculator supports:
- Metal Bars
- Planks
- Cloth
- Leather
- Stone Blocks
Changing the resource also automatically selects its normal refining bonus city.
Choose the Tier and Enchantment
Next, select the exact resource you want to refine.
For example:
- T6
- T6.1
- T6.2
- T6.3
The required raw resource, previous tier refined material and finished output automatically update.
Always make sure the selected tier and enchantment match what you actually plan to refine.
Set the Number of Runs
The Runs setting controls how many times you perform the refining recipe.
Increasing the number of runs automatically changes:
- Required materials
- Refined output
- Station fees
- Expected resource returns
- Focus usage
- Total profit
- Transport weight
This makes it easy to compare a small test with a much larger refining run.
Choose Your Refining City
The Refine In setting tells the calculator where you will actually refine the materials.
This matters because each resource has a city with a refining bonus.
The current refining bonus cities are:
- Metal Bars: Thetford
- Planks: Fort Sterling
- Cloth: Lymhurst
- Leather: Martlock
- Stone Blocks: Bridgewatch
The bonus city is marked directly inside the calculator.
Refining somewhere else is still possible, but your Resource Return Rate will normally be lower.
Choose Where You Buy and Sell
Your refining city and your market cities are completely separate.
You can choose:
- Buy Raw In
- Buy Refined In
- Refine In
- Sell Output In
This means you are not forced to buy, refine and sell everything in the same city.
Buy Raw In
This is where you plan to purchase the raw resource.
For example, if you are refining Metal Bars, this is where you buy the Ore.
The calculator uses prices from this city when calculating your raw material cost.
Buy Refined In
Higher tier refining recipes normally require a refined resource from the previous tier.
For example, refining a higher tier resource may require both:
- Raw materials from the current tier
- Refined materials from the previous tier
Buy Refined In tells the calculator where you plan to purchase that previous tier material.
Sell Output In
This is where you plan to sell the final refined resource.
The calculator uses the output price from this city when calculating your revenue.
Your best buying city and your best selling city may be completely different.
Find the Best Markets
You can use Find Best Markets to automatically compare market locations.
The calculator looks for a better combination of:
- Raw material city
- Previous tier refined material city
- Final selling city
It then chooses the combination with the highest calculated profit from the available market data.
Your selected refining city stays unchanged because your station fee belongs to that refining location.
Enter the Station Fee
Enter the Station Fee shown by the refining station in game.
The calculator expects the silver cost per 100 nutrition.
Enter 0 only if the station is actually free.
Station fees can have a significant effect on large refining runs.
A resource that appears profitable before station fees can become much less attractive once the real fee is included.
Daily Production Bonus
If there is an active refining production bonus, select the appropriate Daily Bonus.
The calculator supports:
- None
- 10%
- 20%
The daily bonus is included when calculating your Resource Return Rate.
Make sure this matches the bonus that is actually active when you plan to refine.
Resource Return Rate
Resource Return Rate, or RRR, determines how much of your eligible refining materials you expect to receive back.
Returned materials reduce the effective cost of refining.
RRR can be affected by things such as:
- Refining city
- Resource specialty bonus
- Focus
- Daily production bonus
This is one of the most important numbers in the entire calculator.
City Production Bonus
With Production Bonus enabled, the calculator includes the normal city and refining specialty bonuses.
For most normal calculations, leave this enabled.
If you disable it, the city production bonuses are removed while Focus and Daily Bonus remain separate.
Custom Resource Return Rate
Advanced Mode lets you enable Custom RRR.
This allows you to manually enter the exact Resource Return Rate you want the calculator to use.
When Custom RRR is enabled, it overrides the final automatically calculated RRR.
This is useful if you already know the exact percentage shown in game or want to test a specific scenario.
For normal use, the automatic calculation is easier.
Use Focus
Enable Use Focus if you plan to spend Focus while refining.
Focus increases your Resource Return Rate and can significantly improve refining profit.
However, Focus is limited.
A profitable Focus refine is not automatically a good use of your Focus.
Refining Specialization
When Focus is enabled, you can enter your refining specialization for:
- T4
- T5
- T6
- T7
- T8
These specialization levels affect how much Focus the refine costs.
They do not change your Resource Return Rate.
Higher specialization means you can refine more resources using the same amount of Focus.
Focus Cost Efficiency
The calculator uses your refining specs to calculate your Focus Cost Efficiency.
Each refining specialization contributes to the overall efficiency of that resource family.
The specialization for the tier you are currently refining receives a much larger direct bonus.
This is why specializing in the exact tier you regularly refine can greatly reduce the Focus cost.
Save Your Refining Specialization
Signed in users can save specialization profiles.
For example, you can save separate profiles for:
- Ore Refining
- Wood Refining
- Fiber Refining
- Hide Refining
- Stone Refining
This means you do not need to enter your specialization levels every time you return to the calculator.
Premium
Enable Premium if the character you are using has Premium.
Premium affects the marketplace fee assumptions used by the calculator.
If you do not have Premium, disable it so the calculated result matches your account more closely.
Choose Your Price Data
The calculator gives you three ways to value your materials and output.
You can use:
- Latest Observed
- 24h Average
- 7d Average
Each one is useful for a different reason.
Latest Observed
This uses the latest available market observation.
It is usually the best option when you want to calculate a refine using the current market.
However, public market data can become outdated if nobody has recently inspected that market.
Always check the age of important prices.
24h Average
This uses the average recorded market price from the last 24 hours.
It can be useful when you want a less volatile price than one individual market observation.
However, historical averages represent recorded sales and should not be treated exactly like a live buy or sell order.
7d Average
This uses the average recorded market price across the last seven days.
It gives you a broader view of the recent market.
This can help when today's price looks unusually high or unusually low.
But the market may have changed significantly during those seven days.
Check Price Freshness
The calculator shows how old the market observation is for each required item.
You may see prices that are:
- Very recent
- Several hours old
- Several days old
- Missing completely
Older prices should be treated with more caution.
Pay extra attention when you are planning to invest a large amount of silver.
Use Manual Prices
Every required material and the final output can use a Manual Price.
If the calculator shows 12,000 silver but you currently see 11,000 silver in game, enter 11,000 manually.
The calculation immediately uses your entered price instead.
This is especially useful when:
- Market data is old
- Market data is missing
- You already bought materials at a specific price
- You know the price you expect to sell at
Buying Materials: Instant Buy or Buy Order
Advanced Mode lets you choose how you plan to buy your external materials.
There are two options.
Instant Buy
Instant Buy assumes you purchase materials directly from existing sell orders.
This is usually faster.
But you may pay more than you would with your own buy order.
Buy Order
Buy Order uses the highest available buy order price as the market reference.
This can make your material cost lower.
However, placing a buy order does not guarantee that the entire amount will actually fill at that price.
The calculator can also include the relevant Buy Order Setup Fee.
Selling Your Refined Resources
Advanced Mode also lets you choose how you plan to sell the final output.
Sell Order
Sell Order assumes you list your refined resources on the market.
This normally uses the current lowest sell order as the price reference.
The calculator can include:
- Sell Order Setup Fee
- Sales Tax
Remember that seeing a sell order at a certain price does not guarantee that your full stack will sell at that price.
Instant Sell
Instant Sell assumes you sell directly into the highest available buy order.
This gives you faster liquidity.
But the selling price is often lower.
Understanding the Selected Result
Once all required prices and the station fee are available, the calculator shows your selected result.
The main result includes:
- Profit or Loss
- ROI
- Profit Margin
- Resource Return Rate
- Total Output
- Focus Used
- Station Fee
This gives you a quick overview before you open the detailed calculation.
Understanding the Calculation
The calculator breaks your result into individual costs instead of only showing one final profit number.
For a normal refining run, this includes:
- Materials Bought
- Expected Returned Material Value
- Buy Order Setup Fees when applicable
- Station Usage Fee
- Total Effective Expense
- Gross Output Value
- Sell Order Setup Fee when applicable
- Sales Tax
- Net Sale Value
- Net Profit
This makes it easier to understand exactly where your profit is coming from.
Expected Resource Returns
For a normal refining run, the calculator also shows the expected quantity of each returnable material.
These are expected values over many refining runs.
They are not a guarantee that one specific batch will return exactly that amount.
Resource returns contain natural variation.
Larger refining runs generally get closer to the expected average.
What Does ROI Mean?
ROI means Return on Investment.
Profit tells you how much silver you expect to make.
ROI tells you how efficiently the silver you invested is being used.
Imagine two refining runs both make 500,000 silver.
One requires 3 million silver.
The other requires 20 million silver.
They make the same profit, but the first run produces much more profit relative to the silver invested.
The Simple Rule
Look at both Profit and ROI.
High profit does not automatically mean the refine is efficient.
High ROI on a tiny refine may also produce very little actual silver.
What Does Profit Margin Mean?
Profit Margin compares your profit with your sale revenue.
It gives you another way to understand how much of the final selling value remains as profit.
For quick decisions, Profit and ROI will usually be the easiest numbers to start with.
Refine Previous Tiers Yourself
Enable Refine Previous Tiers Yourself if you do not want to buy the required previous tier refined materials from the market.
Instead, the calculator builds the refining chain for you.
For example, instead of buying the required lower tier refined resource, you can start at an earlier tier and refine each stage yourself.
Choose Where the Refining Chain Starts
When stacked refining is enabled, choose Start Refining Chain At.
For example, you could refine:
T4 → T5 → T6 → T7
instead of buying the previous tier material for your final T7 refine.
The calculator treats the intermediate refined resources as internally produced materials rather than market purchases.
How Stacked Refining Works
With stacked refining enabled, the calculator tracks the entire chain.
It calculates:
- External raw materials you need to buy
- Starting refined inputs when required
- Expected Resource Return Rate at every stage
- Station fees across the chain
- Focus usage across the chain
- Final output value
- Total profit
Intermediate refined materials are produced internally and fed into the next tier.
Stacked Refining Safety Buffer
Resource returns are based on expected values.
If you buy exactly the mathematical minimum amount, bad return RNG could stop your refining chain before the final stage.
To reduce this problem, the calculator adds a 10% purchase buffer to the expected external material requirement when stacked refining is enabled.
This gives the chain more room to handle variation in actual resource returns.
Production Cost by Refining Stage
When stacked refining is enabled, the result also shows the estimated production cost at each stage.
For example:
- T4 production cost
- T5 production cost
- T6 production cost
- Final tier production cost
These numbers represent estimated cost per output, not the quantity produced.
They include the relevant earlier internally refined materials, expected Resource Return Rate and station costs.
Refining Opportunities
The Refining Opportunities section scans the selected resource family across multiple tiers and enchantments.
For example, instead of only checking T6.1 Cloth, you can compare many Cloth refining options at the same time.
The table can show:
- Profit
- ROI
- Sell Price
- Crafting Cost
- 24h Sales Volume
- Focus Cost
- Silver per Focus
- Price Age
Clicking an opportunity opens that recipe in the detailed calculator.
Filter Refining Opportunities
You can choose which tiers and enchantments appear in the opportunity table.
The calculator supports filtering by:
- T2 through T8
- .0 through .4 enchantments
You can also:
- Hide negative profit
- Hide missing prices
This makes it easier to focus only on the refining options you actually care about.
Sort Refining Opportunities
The opportunity table can be sorted by several different metrics.
You can sort by:
- Profit
- ROI
- Silver per Focus
- Lowest Focus Cost
- 24h Sales Volume
- Highest Tier
There is no single metric that is always the most important.
Your goal determines what you should look at.
Profit
Sorting by Profit shows which refining options currently produce the most total calculated silver.
This is useful when you care about the size of the overall return.
But always consider how much silver you need to invest.
ROI
Sorting by ROI highlights efficient uses of your invested silver.
This is useful if your available silver is limited or you want to turn over your capital efficiently.
Silver per Focus
When Focus is enabled, Silver per Focus helps compare how much profit each point of Focus generates.
This is especially useful because Focus is a limited resource.
A refine making the most total silver may not necessarily give you the best value from your Focus.
Lowest Focus Cost
This sorts opportunities by the Focus required for the refining run.
Higher specialization can significantly reduce this cost.
Use this together with profit rather than treating low Focus cost as automatically better.
24h Sales Volume
The scanner also shows the recorded 24 hour sales volume for the refined output in your selected selling city.
A high calculated profit is less useful if the resource barely trades.
Volume gives you another signal for how easy the output may be to sell.
Price Age
The opportunity scanner shows the age of the oldest required market price.
This is important because one outdated material price can make an otherwise good looking opportunity misleading.
Always inspect price freshness before committing large amounts of silver.
Profit per 10,000 Focus
When Focus is enabled, your detailed result can also show the estimated profit generated per 10,000 Focus.
This makes different refining opportunities easier to compare.
Instead of only asking:
Does Focus make this profitable?
You can ask:
Where does my Focus create the most value?
Transport Planner
Refining often requires moving heavy materials between several cities.
The Transport Planner calculates the weight of:
- Materials going to the refinery
- Finished refined output
It also shows the routes required by your current setup.
For example:
Material City → Refining City
and:
Refining City → Selling City
If two locations are the same, the calculator tells you that no transport is required for that part of the route.
Estimate Transport Trips
Enable Estimate Trips to calculate how many trips your refining run may require.
You can choose a capacity preset or enter your own carrying capacity.
The calculator then compares your total material weight against that capacity.
This is especially useful for large refining runs where transport can become a major part of the process.
Add a Transport Cost
You can also enter an optional Cost Per Trip.
The calculator then shows:
- Total Trips
- Estimated Transport Cost
- Profit After Transport
This lets you see whether transportation meaningfully changes the result.
The calculator deliberately does not invent a silver value for:
- Travel time
- Gank risk
- Dangerous routes
- Convenience
You still need to judge those yourself.
Save Your Refining Setup
Signed in users can save refining calculator setups.
This is useful if you regularly refine the same resource or want to return to a calculation later.
Your setup can preserve the important calculator settings so you do not have to rebuild everything from scratch.
The Best Way to Use the Refining Calculator
The calculator works best as a decision making tool, not as an automatic instruction to buy materials.
A good workflow is:
- Choose the resource, tier and enchantment.
- Enter the real station fee.
- Select the correct refining city.
- Choose where you will buy the materials.
- Choose where you will sell the output.
- Check Profit and ROI.
- Check the market price age.
- Check 24h sales volume.
- Enter manual prices if the public data does not match the game.
- Add Focus and your real specs if you plan to use Focus.
- Compare other tiers in Refining Opportunities.
- Consider stacked refining if you want to refine the previous tiers yourself.
- Check the transport requirements.
- Verify the important prices in Albion.
- Then decide whether the refining run is worth doing.
Before You Refine
The Refining Calculator can help you find opportunities, compare different refining routes and understand exactly where your silver is going.
But no calculator can guarantee future profit.
Albion's market constantly changes.
Before committing a large amount of silver, double check:
- Raw material prices
- Previous tier refined material prices
- Final output price
- Buy and sell order availability
- Recent sales volume
- Market price age
- Station Usage Fee
- Refining city
- Tier and enchantment
- Resource Return Rate
- Daily production bonus
- Focus usage
- Transport requirements
Use the Refining Calculator to find the opportunity.
Then confirm the important numbers in game before spending your silver.
